FBI: Woman Shot at CIA was Driving Drunk

Authorities say Monia Spadaro was coming from a local bar when she drove erratically towards the CIA headquarters and was shot by a CIA police officer.

Authorities say a woman who was shot by CIA police officers last week was driving drunk at the time of the incident.

According to charging documents, at 3:38 a.m. Monia Spadaro drove her Toyota Corolla the wrong way into the CIA headquarters. Authorities say Spadaro ignored warning signs, veered in and out of lanes and drove “at a high rate of speed” the main security gate towards a CIA police officer. The officer fired multiple shots, resulting in Spadaro sustaining a gunshot wound.

After crashing her car on one of the security gate barriers, she was removed from his vehicle and given medical assistance.

Spadaro was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. While there, authorities say she told hospital personnel that she had been at Patsy’s, a bar in Vienna, Virginia. Officers that traveled with her in the ambulance say her “eyes were glossy and bloodshot, and she had an odor of alcohol.”

In 2021, Spadaro had a prior conviction for driving under the influence. Efforts to reach Spadaro were unsuccessful. The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Virginia respectfully declined to comment. Spadaro had an initial appearance at an Alexandria federal courthouse yesterday and was ordered detained pending a hearing this afternoon.
