Welcome to Court Watch #67. In this week’s dockets, we have Russian border bribes, antisemitic Uber drivers, voter fraud, student pilot red-teams, volleyball clothing drama, shattered courthouse doors, medical van smuggling, and a robber takes the L. Plus, federal crime is awash in 49 states but non-existent in the one we bought while playing a card game.
And finally, we too are tired of Starbucks up-charging our Almond Vanilla Soy Latte. That strongly held (and correct) belief will make sense later in the newsletter. So let’s dive into the docket roundup.
No-Hitter: Pundits and politicians take note, Alaska is the safest state in the nation for federal crime. Lots of stories about rising national crime, but everyone missed (besides one very eagle-eyed local reporter who tipped us off) that Alaska is apparently a utopia. In what we believe would be a new record, no new criminal cases were filed or unsealed in the last eight days. Maybe it’s as simple as the AUSAs went moose hunting?
