Court Watch #103: Wicked Mistakes & Postal Pot
A Toy Company Screw up. Mail Carrier Weed. Plus: 1.6 Billion in Diamonds, Bahamas Cocaine, Mattel toy lawsuit, & the Knicks are the only ones allowed to sell a bad product at Madison Square Garden
By Peter Beck and Seamus Hughes
Welcome to Court Watch #103. For many, the first week of December marks the start of the holiday season. Lights go up, trees get cut, and songs get sung. And that’s a good enough hook as any to abuse a holiday theme-infused lede. In this issue, we look at a toy gifted to a child that was way too adult, a particular type of White Christmas for some Bahamas cops, a president made a pardon list but a federal judge is checking it twice, an Ohio man really wanted to get home for Christmas, the New York Times is about to find out if OpenAI’s DMs are naughty or nice, Eartha Kitt wanted a platinum mine but a New York company just wants its diamond investment back. Finally there is a reason for the season but the fear of god isn’t what it used to be in biblical days.
In the coming weeks you’ll wrap your presents with glee. However, if you need to mail them to your loved ones, it helps to have a good contact at the post office to ensure they reach their destination on time. That is especially true if you need to mail illegal drugs. Which brings us to our first story in this week’s federal courts docket roundup.
